The ProLon Journey

A 5-day journey to reset your body & transform your life

Day 1 Fasting State

The body transitions into a fasting state and fat-burning mode so it can begin cellular clean-up.

Day 2 Fat Burning

The body is switching to fat burning. Cellular clean-up (autophagy) now begins.

Day 3 Ketosis & Autophagy

Many patients reach a degree of fat burning metabolic state known as ketosis.

Cellular recycling and clean-up continues.

Day 4 Cell Rejuvenation

Cellular cleaning/renewal and fat burning continues.

Day 5 Renewal

Your transformational journey is completed. Re-feeding beyond Day 5 will fuel a Better You.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the background of L-Nutra and ProLon?

L-Nutra was founded in 2009 by renowned scientist Valter Longo, Ph.D. Dr. Longo currently owns 60% of L-Nutra and donates all of his proceeds to scientific organizations and universities to further advance longevity research.

ProLon was launched in 2016 and consists of over 2 decades of research at the Longevity Institute at the University of Southern California (USC) and $36 million of grants from the National Institutes of Health.

ProLon is the only healthcare product that has earned a patent for inducing stem cell-based regeneration.

How does fasting help people become healthier?

Research is showing that metabolic switching, the back and forth from eating-to-fasting and then back again to eating is responsible for the health benefits. This is because when someone fasts, the body switches to autophagy, a process that allows the body to make cellular repairs and drive stem cell rejuvenation. Once someone resumes eating, the body then initiates cellular growth and tissue remodeling.

What are autophagy and mitophagy?

Autophagy is a physiological process in the body that deals with the destruction of cells in the body. It is the body’s way of removing damaged cells and replacing them with new ones. The importance of autophagy is so vital to longevity that in 2016, Dr. Yoshinori Ohsumi won the Nobel Prize for his discovery of the mechanisms for autophagy.

Mitophagy is the selective degradation of mitochondria by autophagy and often occurs to defective mitochondria following damage or stress.

Why are mitochondria important to aging?

Mitochondria are organelles that generate chemical energy in cells. They are responsible for converting the air we breathe and the food we eat into energy that our cells can use to grow, divide, and function.

Mitochondria dysfunction is widely believed to be one of the key causes of the aging process and is linked to the development of numerous age-related pathologies. Further, a growing body of research suggests that promoting mitochondrial health could be a reliable way to increase lifespan.

Metabolic switching increases both mitochondrial stress resistance and mitochondrial biogenesis.

What types of medical conditions can intermittent fasting help with?

Preclinical studies in animal models have shown disease-modifying efficacy on many chronic disorders such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancers, and neurodegenerative brain disorders.

Why am I able to eat ProLon foods but still be in a fasting state?

It is the ratio of protein, calories, fat, and carbohydrates that induces this state. The actual gram amount of carbohydrates, protein, sugars, and fats are low enough that they do not activate the nutrient-sensing pathways. When these nutrient-sensing pathways are suppressed, the body is in a fasting state.

How often should I use ProLon?

It is recommended to use ProLon three months in a row and then every 3-6 months thereafter for maintenance purposes.

How long do the results last?

Based on current research, 60-90% of the observed benefits of ProLon are maintained for about 4 months after the completion of the 3 monthly cycles.

Do I have to eat each day’s food according to the recommended eating times?

No. The order in which you eat each day’s items does not impact the outcome. Many people skip the breakfast bar and save that for some time later in the day.

Why can’t I have anything with caffeine?

Caffeine mildly stimulates the reactivation of a nutrient-sensing pathway called the PKA pathway (as well as some other pathways) that ProLon inhibits. For this reason, it is best to avoid caffeine as much as possible during the diet.
